+ “Christifideles” Award:

Card. Francis George has established the “Christifideles Award” which is to be given to lay people who demonstrate faithfulness and dedication in the various Parish ministries.

I am happy and proud to announce that not one, but three people from our Parish have been appointed and chosen for this award: Henry, Jennifer and Naomi Chan. The whole family!

Card. George will confer the award upon them at a ceremony at Holy Name Cathedral on Sunday, Sept. 21st, at 2:30PM. Congratulations and best wished to the awardees.

+Welcome back to school:

I wish to welcome back to school all our St. Therese’s Faculty, Staff and students. We hope that you had a restful summer regaining the necessary energies for the new scholastic year ahead of you.

+ Registration for 2008-2009 CCD  

This is the last weekend to register for the 2008-2009 CCD school year.  Registrations must be received by Monday, September 1.  Information regarding CCD and RCIA can be found at the back of the church or online at www.StThereseChinatown.org.

+ Church roof:

The “Midwest Siding and Windows Inc” have finished working at the roof of our church. They did an excellent job and we are grateful to them. The cost was $39,000.00.

During to works on the roof, the constructer brought to me attention how the boiler’s chimney was falling apart and the bricks on the were loose. The problem has been fixed and it costs an extra $4,500.00.

To save on utilities bills we decided to have our church insulated for the winter. A company will come next week to pump foam between the ceiling and the roof. This project had been budgeted for $5,000.00.

The total cost for the capital project is $ 48,500.00. With the “Matching Contribution” we reached the amount of $ 36,416.00. We need to raise $ 12,084.00

We are almost there, a little more effort by everyone and we shall be able to cover the costs.

Please, check the list of donors for eventual typo and let me know if there are addictions or corrections to be made.

+ Parish Assembly:
Saturday Sept. 13th at Darien. From 9:00am prompt to 4:00pm. Lunch will be served. We have to give the Shrine Director and accurate figure of participants by Sept. 3rd. PLEASE, help us save money by signing up now. You can enter your name on any of the three Bill Boards displayed at the back of the church and in the basement.

+ Shop and Help!:

Every time you use your Target REDCard, Target will donate money to our school.  St. Therese School collects 1% back a year when shopping at Target and ½% back when using the Visa elsewhere!
