Dear friends,
We celebrate this weekend two liturgical solemnities:
- “All Saints”: when we are nearing the end of the liturgical year and we shift our focus to the end of times. We celebrate the faithful disciples of Christ whom we call “saints” and the “glory” that Awaits us. The victory that the saints have achieved encourages our fidelity. Their glory strengthens our resolve to be faithful.
- “All Souls” the church gathers not to mourn our beloved dead, but to give voice to our hope for them. The basis for this hope lies in Jesus himself who passed from death to life. The faithful departed who were “buried with him through Baptism” will be united with Him in the resurrection. Truly this is a day of great hope.
+ Book of the Living:
“ All Souls Day” is a golden opportunity to take time for ourselves and re-discover the meaning of life at the light of our faith.
The “Book of the Living” is being displayed next to the Mexican “altar of the dead” Next to it stands the Paschal candle to symbolize the belief of Christians in the resurrection. You can enter on it the names of your deceased dear ones. It will be brought to the altar together with the jar of prayers to St. Therese
+ Thanksgiving:
This year falls on Thursday November 27th. It is a wonderful opportunity to count all our blessings and look at the future with bright, joyful hope:
On “Thanksgiving” there will be two Masses: the early one at 7:45am, and the second at 10:00am. The latter will be followed by lunch in the church basement.
You are cordially invited to celebrate with us. If you intend to come, please make sure that you sign your name on the sign-up list in the Church basement. There is no fixed fee, donations are welcome and will help us to cover the expenditures.
You can help in different ways;
- Uncooked food,
- Monetary donations to purchase food, and
- “Potluck” items are high appreciated.

+ Operation Christmas Child
For the season of Advent, the 5th and 6th grade CCD classes will take part in “Operation Christmas Child”, a project of Samaritan’s Purse International Relief. It is an activity which brings joy and hope to children in third-world countries by sending gift-filled shoe boxes.
This Christmas, we invite you to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ with a needy child in a country like Uganda or El Salvador by using a simple shoe box.
This is an easy mission project that every member and family of our parish can participate in by bringing a gift-filled shoe box to the church in the next three weeks. Complete details are outlined on the bulletin board located in the back of the church. Gift box drop-off at collection centers is the week of November 17-24. Please don’t forget to bring your shoe box gift to church on or before November 23, 2008.
Help spread God’s love and peace to a world in need and touch the heart of a child!
